Brief description of the organization
The INTNA is a Governmental National Cancer Institute involved in research, diagnosis and therapy of neoplasia. It is one of the 8 Italian NCIs and is the largest Cancer Center in Southern Italy. Every year more than 16.000 cancer patients are admitted to the Institute through the in-and out-patient clinics for the most adv diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. The main mission of the Institute is to conduct translational research and is organized in several interconnected departments specialized in the research, diagnosis and therapy of organ-specific cancers, as well as in the identification and validation of new targets and biomarkers. The Institute runs every year more than 170 clinical trials of which the majority is phased Phase II, III and IV studies. By the spring of year 2013 the Institute will open a dedicated facility for first-in-man Phase I clinical trials with new agents. In this framework, the Units of Viral Oncology & Mol. Biology, of Liver Oncology Surgery and of Clinical Trial will be involved in the project.
