EXPLORING COLLABORATION IN VIETNAM AND SOUTH-KOREA

Dr.Luigi Buonaguro, Scientific Coordinator of the HEPAVAC project, visited Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Seoul (South-Korea) from May 15 to 21, 2016. The goal of such a visit was to explore the possibilities of collaboration with local institutions for evaluation of the HEPAVAC vaccine.

In particular, on May 16th, Dr.Luigi Buonaguro participated to the International Symposium “Toward Advanced Treatments for HCC a platform for an Italy-Vietnam collaboration” held in Ho Chi Minh City -Vietnam, organized by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (hepavac2016ump.wordpress.com). Besides Dr.Buonaguro, representatives from local University and Hospital were among the speakers. The symposium is the result of the interest of the Vietnamese research centers for the development of immunotherapies in the field of the hepatocellular carcinoma, amongst the principal causes of death in the country.

On May 19th Dr.Buonaguro took part to a meeting held in Incheon and coordinated by Professor Sun-Min Ahn from Gachon University Gil Medical Center. In addition to Dr.Buonaguro, delegates from the Korean Research Institute of Bioscience & Biotechnology, the New Drug Development Center of Osong Medical Innovation Foundation and Yuhan Corporation participated. The purpose of this meeting is the start-up of a collaboration with Hepavac project  for the development of immunotherapies against the hepatocellular carcinoma that is, as in Vietnam, amongst the principal causes of death in South-Korea.
